Description

A 6-hour day-trip to the scenic peninsula of Reykjanes to satisfy any photographer, wildlife observer, urban or rural explorer, and casual tourist looking for a fresh take on Iceland. Cross tectonic plates at the famous 'bridge between the continents,' seek ghosts and hidden creatures, enjoy lakes in volcanic craters, and marvel at the multi-colored peninsula yet to be fully explored by travelers. See the geothermal area of mud pools at Gunnuhver and Iceland's most popular lighthouse, Reykjanesviti. Tour includes round-trip transportation from central Reykjavik with a professional driver/guide and is limited to a maximum of 19 people. Optional drop-off at the Blue Lagoon or Keflavik (KEF) Airport is also available.

Begin your tour with early morning pickup from Reykjavik. Board a minibus that seats up to 19 people with your professional driver/guide. Enjoy a friendly and cozy atmosphere throughout your 6-hour trip. Time spent at each location will vary, but you can expect approximately 30 minutes at each.

Head southwest from the capital and have your cameras ready as you stop to admire Kleifarvatn lake and the colorful lake of Graenavatn 'Green Lake'. Keep a look out, as both lakes are rumored to be hiding odd creatures in their depths. Next, go to the multicolored hills of Krysuvik, and take a short walk between bubbling hot springs.

Stop for lunch at the harbor town Grindavik (lunch can be purchased or you can bring your own). Then go to the geothermal area of mud pools, Gunnuhver, and hear the ghost story embedded in its past. Located in the close vicinity to the Valhnukar bird cliffs, here you can spot various bird species, and see one of the Iceland's most popular lighthouses, Reykjanesviti.

By the end of the tour, cross the famous 'bridge between the continents' connecting the two tectonic plates causing Iceland to grow 2cm per year. Tour ends with drop-off at your selected pickup location in Reykjavik at approximately 3:30pm, and you can spend the rest of the day discovering the vibrant capital on your own.

Alternatively, you can be dropped off at the Keflavik airport or the Blue Lagoon, if you have a return flight scheduled for that day or just want to explore Iceland's most popular sight (please advise at time of booking your desired drop-off location). Airport drop-off is suitable for departure flight times of 4pm or later.

*Blue Lagoon: if you want to visit the Blue Lagoon, you must book the entry yourself. We recommend to book for 3pm. Make your reservation well in advance. After visiting the Blue Lagoon, you will need to make your way back to Reykjavik yourself, but there are regular buses from the Lagoon and you can pay the fare on the bus.
