The Tour:
Reykjavik - Hvammstangi - Illugastadir - Tjorn cemetary - Hvitserkur - Borgarvirki - Thristapar - Kolugljufur - Reykjavik

Our plan:
We drive to Hvammstangi and to the farm of Illugastadir. We see the remains of Natan's farm and his brother's farm and the current farm. We visit the grave of Agnes and Fridrik, where the remains were taken and buried after they were found. On our way to Þrístapar, were they were executed, we stop at Hvitserkur which is a beautiful rock formation. From there we go to Borgarvirki - a fortress made by nature. We arrive at Thristapar and see the memorial of the execution. From there we head back and on our way we visit Kolugljufur, a beautiful and magnificent canyon.

The saga:
How can a young woman from Australia write such detailed narrative about the most infamous criminal case in Iceland's history? We do not know but the saga is amazing and describes the events as they were in much detail. We recommend that you purchase the book and read it before the tour, so all of us can enjoy it better.

Hannah:
A young woman travels to Iceland as an exchange student. She gets interested in a story of a young working woman that is executed for murder. She returns and does extensive research and writes this story, Burial Rites, based on these events. Hannah Kent has now sold the movie rights to Jennifer Lawrence who will portrait Agnes. What do you feel about that? Let's discuss.

The case:
Two men are brutally murdered in what will be the most infamous criminal case in Iceland's history. The accused are Agnes Magnusdottir, Fridrik Sigurdsson and Sigridur Gudmundsdottir. They are all found guilty and sentenced to death by beheading. Sigga's sentence was changed to life of hard labour in Copenhagen. The last execution in Iceland took place in the year 1830.

What do we do on the tour?
We discuss the story of Agnes, why she got involved with the wrong man and we try to put our self in her shoes in those days. Was she wrongly accused? Was she executed for something that she did not do? We visit the farm and see the remains of it. We see the amazing view that Agnes had and the beautiful nature. We try to understand why she felt the way she did. We visit her grave and the place where she was executed. We discuss and get to the bottom of the case and the saga.
