Description

Glaciers are melting at alarming speeds. In the South-East of Iceland there is a very deep lagoon, the deepest lake in Iceland, 260m/853ft. On this lagoon you will see floating icebergs that are breaking off the glacier. The glacier is Breiðamerkurjökull, one of the glaciers of Vatnajökull, our biggest glacier and the biggest glacier in Europe.

You have the chance of taking a boat ride on the lagoon, on an amphibian. On the boat, you will sail between icebergs with a local guide that will let you taste 1000 year old ice. Where in the world can you do that?

We take you on this tour and on the way we drive through endless sands, lava fields, see glaciers and volcanoes, waterfalls and finally the glacier lagoon. If this is not attracting enough for one day, then I don't know what is. Come with us and enjoy Iceland at it's best.

We leave the city at 7:00 am, pickup starts 30 minutes before. We drive towards the South-East.

Our first stop is Seljalandsfoss, the majestic waterfall that comes from the 6.th largest volcano in Iceland, Eyjafjallajökull. We stop there for 45 minutes for pictures and if there is a chance, a walk behind the waterfall.

From there we drive to the black sand beach at Reynisfjara and stop there for 45 minutes. We go to the beach and look for the troll tears and Noah's cave and perhaps some puffins if we are lucky.

When we have had enough of the beach, we continue our tour towards the Glacier Lagoon with a few lavatory and picture stops on the way. When we arrive at the lagoon, the ones that are going on a sail head for the boats and the ones that do not like boats, can look around for pictures and seals. I will get a coffee. Please note that the boat tour is an added cost and only operational between the months of May and October. The boat tour needs to be booked separately and best way to to contact us directly for that.

After a fantastic experience on the lagoon's boat ride, we head over to the "Diamond Beach" and take a quick look at melting icebergs on the beach and then we head back to Reykjavik.

On the way back, we make a few lavatory and picture stops. We will make a 45 minute stop at Skógarfoss, the majestic waterfall. We estimate our arrival time to Reykjavik City at around 8:00 pm in the evening.
